Susan Isaacs, Real Estate Strategist
Professionally, I look for logic + upside in every situation, to the extent that it benefits my clients. I focus on market conditions supported by data, which helps make me a pricing and negotiation expert. My years of experience in this market lends perspective. My research in area and national market conditions provides a basis for market trajectory, valuable in making buying and selling projections. Above all, I am an informative and straight-forward communicator. I represent residential real estate buyers and sellers in Washington DC and northern Virginia.
Utilizing The Best Resources
Off-market properties represent a growing percentage of Washington DC inventory. In the current landscape, our three stage marketing strategy offers a number of advantages to sellers. Access to these exclusive listings provides buyers with valuable opportunities. Compass created the largest and most sophisticated off-market regional network in the nation. Thanks to Compass One, my clients can track each step of their transaction, view CMAs, review details of each property in personalized feeds, schedule tours and more.

Multiple Transactions | Single family & Condo
“While other agents said, “This is what you need to do;” The Isaacs Team said, “We can do this for you!” Our process was smooth and quick, and they designed a strategy and negotiated a sale well above our asking price; and a purchase price below asking – both in the same market.”

Investment Buyer | Single Family Home
“I was searching for an investment house in DC, although I live in NYC. Covid made it impossible to travel back and forth, so I was dependent on Susan’s advice, acumen and efficiency. She was superb and… well, exactly right every single time. She understood what I was looking for. She told me when a house was worth pursuing and when it was not. She was absolutely frank and responded within minutes. When the right house came up, she pursued it with such perfect strategy and timing, that I was left breathlessly impressed. The perfect jewel house is mine. The most extraordinary thing is that Susan is STILL helping me with innumerable matters even after the sale. I simply can’t believe my luck in finding The Isaacs Team. Work with them if you can. You won’t regret it.”

First Time Buyer | New Construction
“Susan responded to our inquiry immediately and took the time to get to know us and what we were looking for in a new home, while also thoroughly explaining the process and what we should expect. As we started the process of purchasing a new construction condo, Susan became our biggest advocate. She helped us deal with the condo developer to make sure that our concerns were addressed and they asked the questions that we didn’t know we should be asking.”
Straightforward representation
Real estate has never been just about houses. It’s about financial decisions, public policy, neighborhoods, timing, risk, and often it’s the biggest investment a family will ever make.
I don’t believe people should have to navigate those decisions by simply trusting an agent who says, “Because I said so.” That’s why I started writing. More than a decade ago, when most agent real estate websites were little more than online brochures, I began publishing detailed guides explaining how Washington DC real estate actually works. I wrote about the search and transaction processes, neighborhoods, taxes, financing, new development, contracts, regulations, market trends, and explainers for the countless questions buyers and sellers asked every day. The goal wasn’t to impress people with how much I knew. It was to help them understand. Because when you start with a strong foundation of market and process knowledge, our time can be spent furthering your goals.
Over the years, that library grew to 100+ articles and became a resource for buyers, sellers, investors, homeowners and even other real estate professionals. Many clients found me when they searched their questions online and results kept returning my pages. Eventually they decided they wanted someone who approached real estate the same way they approached information; with curiosity, transparency, and long hours of research.
Today, my work has evolved. The DC housing market has changed dramatically. Affordability, interest rates, new regulations, development, condominium values, federal employment, housing policy, and economic uncertainty all shape the decisions people make. Those issues deserve more than canned Ai-generated posts. They deserve context from someone who’s been in the trenches and lived the ups and downs. Field wisdom. Horror stories. Funny stories. Facts and data.
I moved my ‘how to’ library to Substack this year. You’ll find the index on the Tools page, with links to the most popular pages. You’ll also find new posts unique to the dcrealestate.channel.
My blog, now dubbed “The Voice of DC Real Estate,” is still here. It’s a place where I can explain what’s happening in the market(s), why it matters, and what it may mean for people buying, selling, investing, or simply trying to understand the market in the nation’s capital.
My background in television news taught me to ask questions and look at all sides before reporting, and to let the audience draw the conclusions. The same holds true in the practice of real estate.
Let’s meet and discuss your next move.
