1124-1126 Florida is a planned, 5 story, 46 – 52 unit condominium constructed on two adjoining lots, including 27 parking spaces. Parking will be a combination of eight surface and 19 underground spaces. The project is located in the Trinidad neighborhood, approximately 1 block east of Gallaudet University and three blocks from the H Street Corridor. The building will be ground-up construction replacing a former auto repair shop, which has been razed. While 1124-1126 Florida has undergone demolition, construction is in a holding pattern until the developer is able to secure building permits. On July 14, 2015, the Developer submitted an application to the BZA for zoning variances. The application was approved, but carried a 2 year deadline. On June 22, 2017, the Developer submitted requested a two year time extension for that approval, citing inability to secure the necessary government approvals in obtaining a building permit. The extension was granted in August and runs to July 23, 2019.
