16th Street Historic District Development
New Condos on 16th Street - The 16th Street Historic District
One of the most important numbered streets in the District, the 16th Street Historic District is bounded by H Street on the south and Florida Avenue on the north. Here you'll find architecture dating from 1875 to the present, in styles ranging from today's modern glass office buildings to the favored Italianate, Queen Anne, Richardsonian Romanesque, and Beaux Arts examples of the early days of Washington D.C. The Sixteenth Street Historic District was listed on the National Register in 1978. In 2007 a Boundary Increase expanded the district.. While commercial new construction has often occurred, residential projects are somewhat rare.
